The theatre is proud to have its own resident company, providing Shakespeare for the local and wider community. Its members are all local ranging in age from 8 to 80 plus, with all kinds of backgrounds, professions and experience, but sharing a common passion – Shakespeare and his works. Usually, the Willow Globe Company presents an annual production in May and previous productions have included The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, As You Like It, Hamlet and Twelfth Night, all of which received excellent reviews and played to packed and enthusiastic audiences.
Our reputation for clear, accessible and extremely entertaining Shakespeare is now firmly established and demand for our productions is high. In 2010 our Twelfth Night went on to complete a sell-out tour of mid Wales and the borders through the Autumn.
In 2011 we premiered Romeo and Juliet at the Willow Globe in May and then toured through the summer to some fantastic locations including Allt-y-Bela, Usk, Summerhill Golf Club, Hay-on-Wye, and Llowes Court, Clyro near Hay-on-Wye.
In 2012, alongside our big Shakespeare production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, we also held smaller, more intimate productions by other playwrights (cast of three) suitable for indoor performances during the colder months. We love interesting and unusual locations and enjoy exploring the creative use of space, so if you’re thinking about booking a Shakespeare or small production during 2013, please contact us.
